Who Can Rent a Campervan in Madeira?
The requirements are straightforward. You must be at least 22 years old and hold a valid driving licence with a minimum of 2 years driving experience. International visitors can use their national driving licence — no special permit is required. A standard category B (car) licence is sufficient to drive our campervans.
What Documents Do You Need?
Bring the following when you collect your campervan:
Your valid driving licence. Your passport or national ID card. A credit or debit card for the security deposit.

How Much Does It Cost?
Campervan rental in Madeira starts from €110 per day with MadeiraCampers. The final price depends on the season and the length of your rental. Longer rentals receive better daily rates. You can check exact availability and current prices on our booking page at madeiracampers.pt.
A security deposit of €500 is required at the time of rental. This is returned in full at the end of your trip, provided the campervan is returned in the same condition as received.
What Is Included in the Rental?
Our campervans come fully equipped. You do not need to bring anything except your clothes and food. Every rental includes bedding and pillows, kitchen utensils and a gas stove, a refrigerator, solar power system, an outdoor shower, a bio toilet, an outdoor table and chairs, and all the essentials for a comfortable stay.
Both our campervans — Casa da Avo and Geko — are fully self-contained and ready for adventure.
Where Do You Pick Up the Campervan?
We come to you. On your rental day, we meet every guest personally at Madeira Airport — no need to find a rental office or take a taxi anywhere. We hand over the campervan, show you everything you need to know, and send you off on your adventure. At the end of your rental, we collect the campervan from the airport again.

How Long Can You Rent For?
Our minimum rental period is 2 days. Maximum is 30 days. Whether you want a long weekend adventure or a full month exploring every corner of Madeira, we can accommodate you.
Is Camping Legal in Madeira?
Madeira has specific rules about overnight parking and camping. Wild camping — sleeping in random spots without permission — is not permitted on the island. However, there are designated campsites and many legal parking areas where you can comfortably spend the night. When you collect your campervan, we provide every guest with a detailed guide to legal overnight spots, recommended routes, and our personal favourite parking locations across the island.
Tips for First-Time Campervans in Madeira
Madeira’s roads can be narrow and steep, especially in the north and the highlands. Our campervans are compact and well-suited to island driving, but take your time on mountain roads and always check conditions before heading to remote areas. The island is small — you can reach almost any point from Funchal within 90 minutes — so there is no need to rush.
Book your campervan in advance during peak season (June to September and Christmas/New Year). Availability is limited and popular dates fill up quickly.
